We are excited to invite you and your students to a special one-day performance at the United States Marshals Museum, featuring The Latehomecomer, a moving story about the Hmong experience in America following the Vietnam War. This performance is part of the NEA Big Read and is an incredible opportunity to engage students in both literature and cultural history.

About the Performance:
The Latehomecomer is a memoir by Kao Kalia Yang that tells the story of her family’s journey from the war-torn jungles of Laos to refugee camps in Thailand, and ultimately to the United States. Through her powerful storytelling, Yang reflects on the resilience of her people and the challenges they faced as they struggled to find a place to call home.
Performed by the talented Hmong actress Gaosong Heu, this event brings to life the deeply personal and universal experience of immigration while shedding light on the rich cultural heritage of the Hmong community. The performance is both a tribute to Yang’s grandmother and a testimony to the strength of a people whose voices have long been unheard.
